Gary’s blog

Hello Everyone.

Hopefully the weather will improve soon. When it does, we have a whole freezer full of delicious ice creams and lollies to tempt you and keep you cool from the heat of the sun (remember the sun?!)

If you’ve been into the Shop recently, you’ll have noticed we have an Italian theme to our new product ranges. Fresh tortellini and ravioli, pizzas, flavorsome sauces and ragu, antipasto and delicious Italian pastries all accompany our old favourites such as Italian wine and beer, cheeses, coffee and olives and dips.

We still have freshly picked asparagus for sale. The season is short so get it while you can. We will also be selling fresh soft fruit (strawberries, raspberries etc.) very soon – these are always extremely popular.

Our wine of the month for June is Gris Marin rose – A delicious, pale and versatile rose from the sandy Camargue. Delicate and mineral with subtle notes of fleshy peach. Our offer price is £10.34.

With best wishes from Gary and all the staff, volunteers and Shop Committee members

The Shop team of staff and volunteers and the Management Committee are delighted to announce that Jeremy Hunt MP, in conjunction with Tindle Newspapers, has awarded the Shop a South West Surrey Heroes Award.

Whilst this has not been “officially” announced on Jeremy’s website, we are now able to share this very happy news with you all and we couldn’t be more pleased and proud. We are so very grateful to everyone involved in the Shop’s continued efforts to support our community during this pandemic.

This is a new Community Heroes scheme, which acknowledges and shines a spotlight on those people going above and beyond to help others during these challenging times. The scheme celebrates those individuals who go that “extra mile” whether that be supporting their neighbours or individuals through the Covid-19 pandemic, fundraising or helping the community. Eight other organisations join us in winning the award this year.

So in addition to celebrating our 10th birthday at the beginning of February AND having completed our 3000th order for collection, we are happy to add this award to our list of achievements.

We are as proud as punch and as always, THANK YOU, for your on going support and encouragement throughout.

We are very proud of the charity support we provide…

    • We’ve supported Macmillan thanks to a customer who has been busy making bright and cheerful face masks. You can buy them at the shop front door if you’ve forgotten yours. And yes, we really like you to wear one and please be patient as we can only have two people in the shop at a time.

  • And last, but by no means least, we support local charities too. Arthouse Unlimited is another pool of talented people in our community and supplies us with cheeky cards, handmade soaps and handmade chocolates.

New social distancing rules from 24 July

From 24 July, two customers wearing face masks will be allowed in the Shop and Post Office at a time. Please follow social distancing rules and sanitise your hands before entering. This will continue to be available at the Shop door.

Face masks to purchase will be available outside the Shop for customers. We will have disposable 3-ply face masks at 50p per mask on sale as well as the re-usable cloth masks at £5 donation to MacMillan.

Please continue to queue outside with a two metre distance in between you and the next customer!
