Love Local
We do! And we know you do too. We’re so happy to showcase the talent, quality and diversity of our Love Local suppliers. We can all support the small business community on our doorstep that is now back from a difficult and challenging lockdown period. Our shop is a treasure trove of fantastic Love Local goodies.

Say it with flowers!

You can spot a Flowers by Juliette bouquet from 100m away! The hand-picked, hand-tied bouquets come in wonderful colour combinations and brighten up our shop. Come and pick up a bunch – the flowers last for ages and we love that Juliette doesn’t use cellophane.

Use your loaf!

Now weekends feel like weekends again, we want to give a big shout out to our artisan bakers. Two suppliers from Petworth deliver to us weekly:

  • Hungry Guest: best sellers are 5 seed sourdough bread and Challah bread. Place your order before noon on Fridays – delivers on Sunday mornings.
  • SØDT: best sellers are corn bread and HUGE cheese straws – they’re not a metre long, but almost! Seeing is believing; tasting is even better. Place your order before noon on Wednesdays – delivers on Thursdays.

Indian summer

Let’s hold on to summer for a bit longer.

  • Dylan’s Ice Cream has been this year’s big hit and cheered us all up, particularly those who’ve had a staycation. N-ice, N-ice Baby!
  • And what about a bottle of white? 10% off! Firstly from France, Duc de Morny Picpoul de Pinet L’Ormerine still on promotional offer at £9.99. And from South Africa, our wine of the month, False Bay Windswept £9.50 at 10% off, a great new Sauvignon Blanc. “Really refreshing, vibrant and amazingly good value for the quality,” says Rupert from Taurus Wines.

Who gives a crap?

We do. This jazzy loo paper is a great, feel-good product with a big heart – 50% of profits go to help build toilets and sanitation for people in need. Soft as unicorn kisses and as strong as 1000 ponies but don’t take their word for it. So bog off, grab a roll or two – don’t get caught short!

Charities
We are very proud of the charity support we provide…

  • We’ve supported Macmillan thanks to a customer who has been busy making bright and cheerful face masks. You can buy them at the shop front door if you’ve forgotten yours. And yes, we really like you to wear one and please be patient as we can only have two people in the shop at a time.
  • And last, but by no means least, we support local charities too. Arthouse Unlimited is another pool of talented people in our community and supplies us with cheeky cards, handmade soaps and handmade chocolates.

Gary’s blog

Firstly, a massive thank-you from all the staff, committee and volunteers for your continued support during and after lockdown. Without your custom, the Shop would have struggled so we really do appreciate it.

Whilst I realise that the rules around social distancing, face coverings etc. are constantly changing, our current policy is to allow two customers into the Shop at any one time, provided they are both wearing masks. If you don’t have a mask then you have the option of making a £5 donation to MacMillan for a snazzy re-usable/washable one or buying a disposable one for 50p. We are happy that we’re now taking cash in addition to card, cheque and account payments too. Remember also, that we’re still offering a click and collect and delivery service if you are self-isolating or in one of the vulnerable categories.

We are now stocking a large selection of fantastic new products which we think you’ll love. We have curries, side dishes, naan and chutneys from Mandira’s Kitchen at Silent Pool, ambient curry sauces, poppadum and Kingfisher beer – perfect for a DIY curry night. We also have amazing frozen seafood from Chapmans, new wines from Taurus and beers from Crafty Brewing, and delicious ice cream from Dylan’s in Haslemere.

We have also brought back many of our old favourites such as Sugarparty cakes and traybake, Rawlings pasties and pies, and Nellie’s scotch eggs and pork pies.

Finally, we are now able to offer our dry cleaning service again and are selling Juliette’s lovely flowers too.

Fingers crossed it continues to feel more like ‘normal’ again!

With best wishes,
Gary

Summer Shop News

Dunsfold Village Shop has plenty to celebrate this month!

We have loads of exciting new goodies in-store – all tried, tested and highly recommended by us, including new Love Local suppliers, so give them a try.

We are open every day (until noon at the weekends). Customers can also click and collect and for those eligible, we deliver to your door Monday-Friday.

Please shop with us, especially if you’re having a ‘staycation’ in Dunsfold.

NEW IN STORE!

Bollywood Sparkle! We are thrilled to provide Love Local curries from Mandira’s Kitchen, an award-winning business based at Silent Pool. Mandira’s Kitchen dishes are all authentic, traditional hand-me-down family recipes, made with love, joy and happy memories. They include chicken and lamb curries, lamb & veggie samosas, rice, naan & poppadums. Try them for yourself. Frozen fresh! No single use plastic. AND, the black food trays are fully biodegradable.

We all scream for ice cream! Dylan’s Ice Cream founder, Ben Govier has been making ice cream since he was a boy, so it’s no surprise he’s now rather good at it. Dylan’s Ice Cream, named after a much missed black lab, is created from the freshest ingredients plus a lot of love and is crafted at Manor Farm in Langrish. Come and scoop up delicious Love Local Dylan’s in blackcurrant, honeycomb, raspberry sorbet, chocolate, vanilla, honey & ginger, cookies & cream and rum & raisin.

Deli-cious! The new Delphi deli range includes humus, falafels, sun-dried tomatoes, Kalamata and herb olives and more. All in recyclable packaging. And many suitable for vegan and vegetarians. They’re also perfect for picnics, quick and easy snacks or spontaneous entertaining. We might not be able to get to Greece, but we can still eat like a Greek.

And we have two exciting new wines, so what’s not to like? Give them a try!

  • Duc de Morny Picpoul de Pinet L’Ormerine £9.99 – try saying that after a glass! Picpoul is the next ‘big thing’ in wine, so say the Taurus Wines and the Financial Times wine buffs.
  • False Bay Windswept Sauvignon Blanc £9.50 – don’t you love the name?

Seafood and eat it! Yum, that’s the only word to describe Chapman’s frozen fish and seafood. Based in Grimsby, Chapman’s is run by brothers, Kevin and Paul Chapman. We stock fish cakes, made to their mother, Mavis’ own closely guarded recipe, as well as salmon and seabass fillets, HUGE fish fingers, luxury prawns and whole tail breaded scampi. And new arrivals – scallops and breaded cod. Great for all family members.

And last but by no means least, fruit and veg from Hallgate Farm and Secretts – thanks to Mother Nature, we have a steady stream of locally grown delicious fruit and veg from just up the road, or down the road, depending on where you are.

PS. And don’t forget the usuals. We’re fully stocked with all the everyday products. No need to go anywhere else this summer!

Face masks to purchase will be available outside the Shop for customers. We will have disposable 3-ply face masks at 50p per mask on sale as well as the re-usable cloth masks at £5 donation to MacMillan.

Please continue to queue outside with a two metre distance in between you and the next customer!

The Shop Management Committee 2021 & beyond

We are looking for enthusiastic and proactive volunteers to join our Management Committee in 2021. If you enjoy working as part of a team and would like to be involved in supporting YOUR community shop to continue to thrive, please get in touch. Now, more than ever before, the shop has proved its worth to each and every one of us.

The posts that will become available include the roles of Chairman, Marketing, Social Media and Volunteer Coordination. And we also enjoy holding occasional events. We run an organised ship and always welcome fresh ideas.

If you are interested or you know someone who would be, just email Email: committee@dunsfoldvillageshop.co.uk and we will get in touch for a chat.

Or call the Shop on 01483 200246, leave a message and one of the committee will call you back.

Go on – you know you would love it!
