July/August’s Blog.
Hello everyone,
Work on the space in our driveway is progressing well now that the pergola is fully installed. We have added guttering and a downpipe/hose with a water butt for harvesting rainwater (we are extremely grateful to the Dunsfold and Hascombe Horticultural Society for providing this, and a hose-pipe) and we would like to say a massive thank-you to the generous private donor who paid for our new outside chiller. We are using this to help keep some of the vegetables, salad and soft fruit items chilled to extend their shelf life.
The next step is to purchase a new, bigger rack for displaying fruit and vegetables which will be located where the current cupboard is. The new rack will enable us to significantly increase the quantity and range of our offering – we can’t wait!
Haymans is back! We are now stocking fresh salad, vegetables, and fruit – all grown locally near Shillinglee. It sells fast so if you want to be sure of getting some make sure you come in on a Wednesday when it’s delivered.
We have some delightful boxes of chocolate eggs from the Chocolate Detective. The eggs come in two flavours – salted caramel and hazelnut praline – and are presented in egg boxes with a variety of birds on the labels. We have started with Pheasants and Cuckoos. I was lucky enough to try one and they are delicious.
We know how much you love our sandwiches and we have decided to try out some new fillings and flavours. Look out new rolls and wraps which will be hitting the chiller soon!
With best wished from Gary, all the staff, volunteers, and Shop Committee members.
