September 2019

Hello Everyone.

It’s unbelievable to think it is September. The Shop has had a summer filled with local seasonal fruit and veg from Secretts (strawberries, raspberries, heritage carrots and beets, lettuce leaves), a strong selling Rosé from the Languedoc region, and a brand new Sicilian organic white wine. We have also been stocking new BBQ products from Rawlings and local charcoal too. So, I hope you have all enjoyed these as much as we have enjoyed supporting our local suppliers.

We are continuing to offer you ‘plastic’ free produce wherever possible. The corn on the cob comes from up the road and so does our Drink of the Month which is Surrey Garden Cider. Some of you may even be contributing your apples to it! It will go fantastically well with our Recipe of the Month which is Pork in Cider (available on our website). You can buy all your ingredients through us including your pork which we can order from Rawlings, at Cranleigh prices. You only have to pick it up from us.

In keeping with the importance of reducing our environmental footprint, we’ve recently introduced industrially compostable hot drink cups as well as new compostable sandwich boxes. And if you have any suggestions about what we else can stock to help reduce your (and our) environmental footprint, please let us know.

This month, we continue to support a British company called Love 4 Local. They champion British products. And please check out our gondola display of their juices, salad dressings, biscuits etc.

At the Shop, we are also talking about Christmas and our Xmas Fair in November. We will announce the date soon. We will have a range of Xmas Wines, locally produced food as well as our usual seasonal affordable goodies.

With best wishes,
Gary
