October 2019

Hello Everyone.

Now that summer has finally gone we are turning our attention towards the autumn and winter months and in particular, Christmas. I’m pleased to announce that this year our Christmas Fair will be held on Saturday 16th November between 10am and 2pm. In addition to the seasonal goodies and mulled wine we’ll have on sale, you’ll be able to place orders for your Christmas meats from Rawlings, flowers from Juliette and wine and spirits from Taurus. Our wonderful postmistress Debbie will also be offering a wrapping service for gifts and wrapping paper purchased from the shop. Please save the date!

Our regular customers will have noticed we have two new members of Staff. We are delighted to welcome Joy Boxall and Jessica Sim to the shop, both of whom joined us in September. Joy was previously working with horses and Jessica, who works on a Saturday morning, has just started her first year of ‘A’ Levels.

We also have new volunteers in the shop. Mike Jennings and Guy Charlesworth are working behind the till and John Simper is helping to make our delicious sandwiches. We’re always looking for more people to join our army of fantastic volunteers so please let me know if you’re interested in helping us.

Please say “hello” to both our new staff members and volunteers the next time you’re in the shop.

We continue to support our local producers – look out for pumpkins and squashes from Secretts, smoked trout and pate from Charlie’s and local gin amongst others.

Our wine of the month for October is Sierra Grande, a delicate Pinot Noir showing ripe fruit flavours of wild strawberries and plums, balanced with subtle smoky notes, and a delicious, lingering finish.

With best wishes,
Gary
