Summer is well and truly here. I know this not just because of the lovely sunny view from the office window but because I have just spent a lot of time restocking the ice cream freezer, after a busy weekend selling ice creams. We do like a Magnum or two here in Dunsfold. This year, rather excitingly for my daughter who can’t eat dairy, we are introducing a new product – Swedish Glace dairy free ice cream cones.
During May, whether you are a monarchist or not, the Royal wedding will be a perfect excuse to celebrate. So, we have decided that this month, our wine of the month will be Champagne Henri Mandois Brut NV. Like all our recommended wines of the month, it will be 10% off for the whole month of May. Grab yourself a bottle or two and share a toast to Harry and Meghan.
This month, we are also hosting a Dementia Awareness talk with our friends at The Sun Inn. Starting at 7.00pm on 22 May, we will have a visitor from the Alzheimer’s Society who will give a presentation on how to become a Dementia Friend. We work hard at Dunsfold Shop to promote a healthy environment and support everyone in the community including those with Dementia and their carers. We are proud to have been awarded a Dementia Friend’s symbol. But we would like to help others in the community understand how to make small changes to improve the lives of those who are affected by dementia.
I hope you have all had a chance to check out our new card range from Tracks – art cards that hopefully cater to all tastes. Either the beautiful boats for Barbara, the Vulcan Bomber for Kath or maybe the nudist mobility scooter racers! I won’t embarrass anyone by mentioning their name, but I heard talk that someone might use it as inspiration and there may be a new event next year at the May fete!
Thankfully at this year’s May Fete, the most exciting thing will hopefully be our bottle tombola. After last year’s success, we will be holding our ‘is it wine or is it water?’ raffle again. Pick a bottle to unwrap and if you are lucky, you might get a rather nice bottle of wine. We look forward to seeing you at the Dunsfold fete on 7 May.
