March 2019

Spring is on its way! The Shop is definitely looking and feeling Spring like.

Juliette, one of our Love Local suppliers, has made some beautiful planters as well as some gorgeous Spring scented bouquets. After holding off on Easter until we had got past Valentine’s day, the Shop is now full of chocolates and Easter cards. Hot cross buns will soon be making their appearance at the end of the month. My personal recommendation would be the Cadbury Oreo eggs. If you haven’t tried them yet then give them a go. Delicious!

Plus, don’t forget that as part of Easter, we will be celebrating Mothering Sunday on
the 31st March. We are able to take orders for flowers but get in early as it is the busiest day of the florists’ year! The Shop has all the things you need for a special Mother’s Day? Breakfast from pancake ingredients, sour dough croissants and homemade jam, to all the ingredients for a full fry up! So, no excuses for not treating your mum this year.

In the Shop, we are beginning like many people to look at our environmental impact. It will take a little while to make the changes, but we already offer ‘keep cups’ that you can use for your hot drinks. And if you bring them back or you bring in your own mug you will be charged at the lower rate. Our sandwich boxes are 100% recyclable! And we have worked with our supplier Nell Ball so that the scotch egg packaging can now also be recycled. Also, please remember where you can to bring in a bag for life, as we will no longer automatically offer a bag with each purchase. Please don’t think us rude, but if you do feel like you need a bag just ask.

As for other news at the Shop, as Spring is a time for new beginnings, we are happy to welcome to our Shop team, Claire. Claire is our newest Shop assistant. She lives in Cranleigh and alongside her paid work does lots of volunteering in the community. Please pop in and say Hi. We are also glad to welcome new volunteers, Sharon, Alison and Sandrina. It is tricky to get the hang of our till and everything that needs to
be remembered, and they are all doing an amazing job.

See you all soon
