Although there have been a few wet days recently, there have also been some glorious sunny days with some amazing sunrises. You may not know how early we all arrive to open the Shop in the morning. But a 5.30 alarm, although still not completely welcome, is made easier when presented with a glorious view across the Common as the sun rises over the trees. Thank you to all the staff who get up as this time. Making sure that the Shop is set up and papers all ready before the Shop opens at 7.00 is not easy. Especially as the coffee machine is put on after the papers are marked up. And during the winter months it’s not an enviable task! Luckily this month the clocks change and the extra light helps with the early mornings!
We are heading towards Easter very quickly now. The first sign of this is Mothering Sunday. It’s a chance to return to your home parish and a chance to show those mother figures in your life how grateful we are for all they do. We have gift ideas for all tastes and really you can’t beat a special bouquet from Juliette. There will be limited bunches for sale in the Shop so to ensure you get the bouquet that you know she will love, pick up an order form in the Shop or speak to one of the staff about your requirements.
You might realise by now that even though I work in retail, I still am hesitant about rushing through the season. This is the reason that unlike the large supermarkets, we don’t put Easter eggs on display straight after Christmas! But over the next month the Shop will begin to show signs of new life! Crochet chicks are back from Cute Little Buttons for the children who are overloaded with chocolate. Or luxury eggs from Monty Bojangles, and Cocoa Loco.
And don’t forget to order in your meat from Rawlings, a traditional Easter roast of lamb shoulder. Just let us know how many you need to feed or the weight of the joint and we can get it in for you. Check out our Easter order form for more Easter meat ideas from Rawlings. Anything you can get from Rawlings in Cranleigh we can get delivered to the Shop. It costs the same as the butchers, but the Shop gets a little bit of the money. So, a win-win!
Another exciting new idea from the Shop is our wine of the month. Our friends at Taurus help us pick a wine each month which we will be giving you a 10% off as an incentive to try them. This month it is Septima which matches perfectly with dark chocolate. Sounds a great diet to me!
Finally, we have a few volunteer spaces that we would like your help filling. We have till positions as well as sandwich makers. Please let me know if you think you could fit into our friendly team. If the idea appeals to you and you want to know more then come and find me in the Shop.
