June 2018

I am writing this as ever a few weeks ahead of when the parish magazine is printed, so we are gearing up for the royal wedding celebrations. Whether you are a fan of Harry and Meghan or not, it is a great chance to pop open a bottle of bubbles and light the BBQ.

At the Shop this year, we have a few celebrations of our own. One of our staff has just become a Granny for the second time; someone is reaching a very big Birthday milestone in June and then we have our very own royal wedding in July! (We will let Louise pretend she is a princess just for a day!) And with all of these big life events, the Shop stocks cards for each occasion. Even if I have been forbidden to produce an age-related card for one of the events, I will be carefully selecting the glitteriest card I can find for the longest serving member of staff.

I myself have also had a bit of a change having moved house. I mention this only because, at the time, I had a few days off and I would like to say publicly a big Thank You to the staff as they coped brilliantly and even with a few tricky situations the Shop still looked amazing on my return. A few people have asked if I am staying at the Shop and I just want to reassure everyone that I will be here for a long time yet, unless you get sick and tired of me.

On to our news for June, we are hoping that the sunny weather continues so our wine for this month will be the summer favourite Minuty (usual selling price £15.50). As with all our monthly wine recommendations it will be 10% off for the whole of June so why not stock up for the summer months?

Our ice cream freezer is well stocked with all the nation’s favourites plus some local award-winning speciality ice creams from Caroline’s dairy. If you are an Instagram fan, check out their page. Lots of scrumptious pics of ice creams and some of their dairy heard and assorted farm animals.

We can’t forget Father’s Day which this year falls on Sunday 17th June. We have some interesting gift ideas this year, as well as the usual fine wines, plus real ales from our local breweries (yes, that’s a plural as we seem to live in a brewing hot spot!) We have some chocolate tools for the handy man Dad, a gin botanic set for those who like to garden and are partial to a gin cocktail, and a cheesemaking set for the foody Dad.

The Shop has definitely got this one covered!

See you soon
